ABSTRACT As the number of older adults significantly increases in the next three decades, more research on best practices for this population is necessary. Older adults experience numerous mental and physical health difficulties, many of which are encapsulated with the aging process. Nonetheless, older adults encounter many challenges when seeking mental health treatment. An intervention integrating mutual storytelling, cultural humility, and broaching is proposed to aid counselors in their multicultural competence while working with older adults. The authors present a case illustration to demonstrate the implementation of a culturally informed intervention and discuss the implications for counseling practice and research.
