Abstract Lead is one of the most important pollutants in the environment. The purpose of this study is the effect of lavender hydroalcoholic extract on kidney toxicity caused by lead acetate. Forty Syrian male mice were divided into five groups with eight mice, and toxicity was induced by oral administration of lead acetate. Then, hydroalcoholic extract of lavender in different doses (400, 600, and 800 mg/kg bw/day) was injected intraperitoneally to the treatment groups. The results showed that lead toxicity increases malondialdehyde and decreases total antioxidant capacity. Also, the use of lead significantly increased creatinine compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Total antioxidant capacity increased and malondialdehyde decreased compared to the group receiving lead. Therefore, according to the potential antioxidant effects of lavender, this plant can be presented as a suitable candidate to accelerate the improvement of kidney function after kidney toxicity and it should be used as an auxiliary drug.
