There are hundreds of books written specifically about the 2007–2008 Global Financial Crisis. Thousands of articles and op-eds. And even today frequent references are made to the GFC in financial papers as the Federal Reserve seeks to extend the run of the longest bull market in US history. When will the next crisis come? What are its signs and codes? Crisis is now inherent to the mainstream understanding of the economic order, but its nature is often as obscure as it is ubiquitous.
