Upper designs that are made possible with a BOA fit solution may enhance performance based on the design of the system. By dispersing the pressures that close the shoe with softer, compliant straps across the midfoot, shoe manufactures can better secure the foot to the midsole. We hypothesize that individuals experience improved proprioception when uniformly connected with to the midsole, allowing runners to land more softly and produce peak power more quickly. Moreover, a set of straps can more securely hold the midfoot while dissipating pressure over the instep and securing the heel into the heel cup. Disclosure statement
