ABSTRACT Cloudburst over Tehri district of Uttarakhand resulted in flash flood on 8 August 2019. This catastrophic event killed four persons and damaged few bridges. Results presented in this short communication explore cloudburst event over Tehri district using remote-sensing application. Cloudburst over study area occurred during 2000 UTC to 2100 UTC on 8 August. Rainfall of about 130 mm during 2000 UTC to 2100 UTC resulted in heavy flood and landslide sweeping away bridges and affecting nearby villages. Tehri district received rainfall amount of about 360 mm in 5 hours during 1800 UTC to 2300 UTC. This study reports that cloudburst during late hours on 8 August resulted in heavy losses to life and property.
