ABSTRACT Advanced polymeric materials have attracted tremendous attention in recent years as the promising materials for the development of next generation energy technology. These polymeric materials have witnessed impressive electrochemical performance improvement in energy conversion and storage devices with the advances in understanding and design of advanced-nanostructured materials such as carbon-based nanomaterials, metal-organic frameworks. This review focuses on key strategies involved in the technological usage of polymeric materials as well as their composites for the designing and fabrication of energy devices such as solar cells, supercapacitors, batteries and fuel cells along with the remaining challenges and their future perspective.
