By combining a concave-convex multi-pass cavity with solid-state nonlinear media for spectral broadening and a post-compression grating setup, we generated femtosecond pulses with high peak power density. Compared to the other traditional pulse compression technologies, the configuration is very compact with large tolerance for beam direction and spot size. The pulses with an average power of 80 W, a pulse width of 10.7 ps, and a repetition rate of 500 kHz are compressed to 842 fs with the configuration, and the compressed pulse duration approaches the Fourier transform limited pulse duration of 707 fs.
