Since the publication of this article, it has been brought to the attention of the editors that this article contains redundancies when compared with an earlier article published in Mechanics of Materials (‘The electro-elastic scattered fields of an SHwave by an eccentric two-phase circular piezoelectric sensor in an unbounded piezoelectric medium’, Hossein M Shodja, Hamid Jarfi, Ehsan Rashidinejad. Mechanics of Materials 75 (2014) 1–12). The original article was also not referenced. For example, there is a concern that the formulas in this article are very similar to those from the original article. The author of this article appears to have employed these formulas to present some numerical results on a different composite system. Even though the Introduction of this article is quite different from that of the original article, due to the different composite system, it is felt that this is not a sufficient difference between the two articles. Furthermore, the structure and figures in this article are very similar to that in the original article. The appendix of this article also appears to be the same as that of the original article. As a member of COPE this has been investigated in accordance with the COPE guidelines and IOP Publishing considers that a notice of redundant publication should be applied. The author does not agree with the publication of this notice. He maintains that this paper is significantly different to that of Shodja (2014) because of the original formulation not being applicable to magneto-electro-elastic materials.
