An experimental demonstration of laser-diode end-pumped Yb:YAG slab output characteristics when using a compact positive confocal unstable–stable hybrid resonator at room temperature is presented. At the absorbed pump power of 650 W, the maximum output power of 205 W at 1030 nm is obtained with a stability of 0.58%. The optical-to-optical efficiency and slope efficiency with respect to the pump power are 31.5% and 45.6%, respectively. At the output power of 190 W, the beam quality M 2 factors in the unstable direction and stable direction are 1.05 and 1.89, respectively.
