Future thermonuclear fusion reactor with magnetic confinement will require safe and reliable control system for the stabilization and/or suppression of Neo-classical Tearing Modes (NTM). The use of diagnostics sensitive to electron cyclotron emission (ECE) in different control methods and strategies is discussed considering the reliability and resolution that such diagnostics can achieve in a EU-DEMO experimental reactor.
