To carry out the charge exchange reaction experiments in inverse kinematics, a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) based on the Thick Gas Electron Multiplier was constructed. This paper focuses on evaluating its position and energy measurement capabilities with the α radiation sources. For position resolution, the dependencies on drift distance and scattering angle were investigated. In the x-direction, position resolution was consistently better than 400 μm across various drift distances. In the z-direction, it remained better than 300 μm for different drift distances and scattering angles. For energy measurement, the resolution for ∼5 MeV α particles was approximately 8% (FWHM) and the good linearity in energy response was exhibited. The tests demonstrated that the TPC's performance in measuring the position and energy of charged particles like α particles is adequate to satisfy the requirements for future experiments aimed at the extraction of track information and energy deposition.
