Segregated poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/carbon black (CB) composites containing magnetic carbonyl iron (CI) particles have been first synthesized by simply blending and hot compaction. Visible thin channels consisted of CB and CI powders could be observed, which acted as a conductive network. The incorporation of CI components leads to obvious increases in magnetic properties and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance. And with the loading increasing the magnetic properties and EMI shielding efficiency (SE) values were constantly growing. When the composites have filler contents of CB 3 wt% and CI 20 wt%, the saturation magnetization value could achieve to 35.2 emu gāˆ’1, and the EMI shielding efficiency could reach to 20ā€“27 dB in a broadband frequency range of 8ā€“18 GHZ with a thickness of ~2 mm. This work provides a facile strategy to develop magnetic conductive polymer-based materials with efficient EMI shielding properties.
