Fully-inorganic lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are more recently emerging as fantastic semiconductors with remarkable optical and optoelectronic properties along with great promise for the practical applications in lighting, display, photon detection and photovoltaics. Although the related investigation on synthesis, structure, and properties has made remarkable progress in a very short time, further understanding of their optical characteristics must be achieved, especially by means of comparison evaluation method. Tb3+ and Ce3+ co-doped LaPO4 (LaPO4:Tb3+,Ce3+) compound is commercially applied as green-emitting phosphor in fluorescent lamps, cathode ray tubes, and plasma display panels. Herein, LaPO4:Tb3+,Ce3+ nanophosphor was selected as the reference to evaluate the fluorescent performance of CsPbBr3 NCs. Structure, morphology, photoluminescent properties and thermal stability of as-obtained CsPbBr3 NCs were compared with those of LaPO4:Tb3+,Ce3+ nanophosphor. The higher emission color purity and quantum yield from the current nanoparticles in comparison with those of LaPO4 based nanophosphor indicated that CsPbBr3 NCs is truly a promising green emission nanophosphor.
