Heterostructure CeO2–SnO2 nanocomposite was synthesized via hydrothermal route. The morphology of the composites was studied by using SEM, FE-SEM and HR-TEM studies. FT-IR spectra were recorded to identify the functional groups of the nanocomposite. This novel heterostructure of CeO2–SnO2 nanocomposite exhibit excellent photocatalytic performance under UV-visible light irradiation, enabling the decomposition of organic dyes such as MB within 90 min, with desirable efficiency (91%) compared to pure CeO2 and SnO2 nanostructure. The excellent photocatalytic activity result of synthesized heterostructure shows that the CeO2–SnO2 nanocomposite can be applied as promising potential photocatalyst for the removal of pollutants from water sources.
