We report fabrication and characterization of low cost ZnCdO thick film deposited on glass substrate by screen coating technique. For structural properties, x-ray diffraction investigation revealed the presence of hexagonal and cubic structure with strong orientation along (101) where as Scanning electron microscopy analysis illustrated porous morphology of the fabricated film. For optical properties, UV-visible spectroscopy has been evaluated in the spectral wavelength range 300–900 nm for analysis of optical parameters such as absorption coefficient, optical conductivity, refractive index, extinction coefficient and band gap. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy investigation revealed the information about vibrational bands pertaining to (Zn–O and Cd–O) stretching modes. Electrical resistivity measurement showed the semiconducting behaviour of the prepared thick film.
