This paper outlines the relationship between genome size and cell size in diploid and polyploid cotton plants, reinforcing previous observations that larger genomes correlate with larger cells in plants. We also note that domesticated cotton plants have smaller cells than their wild counterparts and that nucleotypic effects seem stronger in more specialized cell types.
