The study on the characteristics of the nasal tip cartilages of Black Southern Africans presents an interesting insight into what might be seen when operating on this specific ethnic population and might be helpful in preoperative planning.1 However, the world is rapidly more mobile, and our facial and nasal characteristics are morphed daily as we migrate, procreate, and share genes, making pure ethnic populations a thing of the past for most surgeons worldwide.2 In the United States we see so many advertisements now for DNA analysis and find that most of us are a mix of many ethnic characteristics.
