Stress is a major factor when releasing endangered species into the wild but is often overlooked. We explored methods to measure stress non-invasively that can be applied to rehabilitated rescued mandrills following release into the wild. We validated an assay for this purpose and showed that consistent extraction methods are needed for accurate hormone comparisons in this species.
