Graphical Abstract Electrophysiological/Purkinje mapping and structural imaging of the heart (upper left) can be used to characterize the triggers and substrate for ventricular fibrillation (VF). Combination of this myocardial substrate mapping with functional imaging of VF, via noninvasive electrocardiographic imaging (ECGI; upper right), can be used to optimize the strategy and identify targets for ablation therapy. LV/RV: left/right ventricles.

Keywords: ventricular fibrillation; purkinje; fibrillation combined; myocardial substrate
