This editorial refers to ‘ Improving cardiovascular magnetic resonance access in low- and middle-income countries for cardiomyopathy assessment: rapid cardiovascular magnetic resonance ’ , by K.D. Menacho et al ., eurheartj/ehac035 . Graphical Abstract Populations generate revenue for governments via taxation, private payors via premiums, and charities via contributions. Those entities, in turn, support the provision of healthcare services to members of a population. Faster cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) reduces cost to fund such care, better access helps affected members of the population return to health and productivity, and increased CMR volume supports facilities to reinvest in their teams. Strategies that improve access to high value cardiovascular services such as CMR can, therefore, advance the health — economic and otherwise — of the population.
