In the autumn of 2017 the Hellenic Society of Cardiology (HSC) held the 38th Anniversary PanHellenic International Congress of Cardiology during 19–21 October 2017 in Athens. The meeting celebrated 69 years since the creation of the HSC that has evolved over the years to become one of the largest national medical societies in Greece with approximately 3200 members. The goal of the HSC, as President Costas Tsioufis reported during the opening ceremony in the Athens Concert Hall attended by 1500 cardiologists and friends of the Society, is ‘education, research, and prevention in order to reduce cardiovascular disease’.
