Highlight: We describe the emergence of dengue in Kathmandu in Nepal in 2019. We found a high incidence in Israeli travelers. The circulating serotypes were identified as DENV-2 and DENV-3 with phylogenetic analysis suggesting that the latter serotype originated from India. Travelers to Nepal should be aware of the potential dengue risk beyond the Terai.
