The Oriental region, since the early 2000s, has experienced significant economic development with the establishment of several enterprises. The aim of this study is to present the evolution of Occupational Medicine in the Oriental region of the Kingdom of Morocco from the 1980s to the present, along with the role of the Association of Occupational Physicians of the Oriental Region (AMETRO) in promoting health and safety at work. In the 1980s, the Oriental region had only one occupational physician trained in France. However, starting in the year 2000, the number of occupational physicians has steadily increased, reaching 63 physicians in 2023, distributed across the 8 provinces of the region. Given the economic and industrial development of the region, there is a pressing need for health and safety management at work. In this context, the Association of Occupational Physicians of the Oriental Region (AMETRO) was established in 2014. Since then, it has undertaken training and information initiatives for social and economic partners by organizing symposiums and health and safety events for businesses in the region.
