Abstract Background Adult vaccination programs are suboptimal. Methods Pneumococcal vaccination history, and healthcare contact were assessed in patients with invasive pneumococcal disease. Results Of the 229 cases, 14% were vaccinated. Observed mortality was 20.1%. Conclusions Numerous missed vaccination opportunities were identified.
