Abstract Implementation of a guideline for the management of hospitalized adults with uncomplicated skin and soft-tissue infections may decrease unnecessary antibiotic use. For cellulitis, treatment with vancomycin and broad-spectrum antibiotics decreased significantly. For cutaneous abscess, treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics decreased significantly. There were no differences in rates of treatment failure, recurrence, or adverse events.
