C hildhood obesity is an “urgent and serious challenge,” with over 340 million children worldwide classified as overweight or obese.1 The World Health Organization has declared war, releasing an implementation plan to end childhood obesity.2 Four of the 6 key actions identified in the plan relate to physical activity and obesity management and are therefore relevant to pediatric physical therapy. Although this article is not all-encompassing, it does highlight 10 key points designed to encourage pediatric physical therapists to seek out more information and become leaders for positive action in childhood overweight/obesity (Figure).
