Objective: Assessment of the hypertension's impact and it's treatment for sexual dysfunction in women. Design and method: We examined 17580 women with hypertension using Mell-Krat Questionaire. It is used mainly for research the sexual dysfunction of women. The questionnaire contains questions about: sexual intercourse and orgasm and related feelings. In this group: degree of hypertension, the type of antihypertensive treatment, symptoms of depression and hormonal therapy were evaluated. The average age of women [yrs]: 50,36 (9,59). Statistical calculations were performed in the StatSoft Statistica 10. The t-student test was used for the statistical analysis. Results: We revealed following results in the examined group [*for p<= 0,05]: Degree of hypertension-blood pressure: the optimal: 1%; normal: 8,2%; high normal: 21%; first degree of hypertension: 42,2%; second degree: 7,4%; third degree: 0,7%; no data: 19,5%. 69.42% of patients declared problems with achieving the sexual satisfaction, 30.58% - reported no problems mentioned above. No caption available. 7,91% of women reported symptoms of depression, 92,09% of them did not report such symptoms. 59,71% of women were on contraceptives; 37,61% were on postmenopausal treatment; 0,27% were on both; 2,41% took other hormonal treatment. Conclusions: 1. Problems with achieving the sexual satisfaction are frequent in hypertensive women. 2. Angiotensin II receptor antagonists are the type of antihypertensive drugs that do not worsen the sexual dysfunction. 3. In the group of hypertensive women, the physician should ask about the problems in achieving the sexual satisfaction and it should have an impact on the choice of the appropriate antihypertensive treatment.
