Objectives: Non communicable disease risk factor survey 2010 in Bangladesh reported that among the people previously diagnosed hypertensive, 30.7% couldn’t achieve blood pressure to currently recommended target. Global data suggest that less than a third of those who are treated for hypertension get their blood pressure controlled to currently recommended targets. Present study conducted among the staff of tertiary level cardiac hospital to find out the magnitude of uncontrolled blood pressure among previously reported hypertensive patient. Methods: National Heart Foundation Hospital & Research Institute in collaboration with International Society of Hypertension (ISH) participated in international event of May Measurement Month (MMM17) 2017. Hospital staff requested to attend the blood pressure screening site. Basic demographic information and blood pressure were recorded in a predesigned questionnaire. Total 786 staff voluntarily participated in this study. Results: Out of 786 respondents, 67 (8.5%) were previously reported hypertensive and 719 (91.5%) were reported normotensive. Among the participants with previously reported hypertensive, only 17.9% get their blood pressure controlled and remaining 82.1% have uncontrolled blood pressure to currently recommended target. Among the 719 respondents previously reported normotensive, 289 (40.2%) of them were newly diagnosed as hypertensive in this study according to new guidelines. Conclusion: Despite available treatment facilities and medication staff of this urban tertiary level cardiac hospital couldn’t achieve the blood pressure to currently recommended target.
