Design and method: We retrospectively investigated the association of daily estimated UNaCl by spot urine method with blood pressure (BP) and clinical parameters in 41 treated hypertensive patients (aged 68.3 ± 9.4 years, body mass index BMI: 25.0 ± 4.2 kg/m2) and 30 untreated patients (aged 54.8 ± 9.9 years, BMI: 24.9 ± 4.3 kg/m2). Patients with heart failure (NYHA>2) or atrial fi brillation were excluded. All the treated patients had medication unchanged at least 3 months and 90% received inhibitor of renin-angiotensin system.
