While in the pre-op bay finishing the discussion with her patient with regard to the anesthetic plan, including risks and benefits, in order to obtain informed consent, the surgeon enters. Without acknowledging her presence, Dr Smith, an orthopedic surgeon, walks into the room, greets the patient, and asks him if he has any last minute questions about the procedure.
