We strongly support and encourage the use of processed/ raw EEG monitoring during anesthesia, particularly novel spectral analysis of the electroencephalographic signatures anesthetic drugs2 which might assist in reducing or preventing intraoperative and postoperative complications including, but not limited to, POD.3 Despite evidence supporting the use of intraoperative EEG monitoring there remain skeptical voices arguing against it, a message that risks undermining the true value of EEG monitoring during anesthesia.
