To the Editor: Fibrosis is a long duration wound healing process triggered by complex cellular and molecular responses that contributes to tissue or organ reconstruc-tion. [1] Bladder fi brosis is initiated by pathological pressure such as hydrostatic pressure, stretching force, and fl uid shear stress. Increased pressure leads to a bladder in fl ammatory microenvironment, smooth muscle hypertrophy, and fi brosis. To date, two common etiological factors of bladder fi brosis are mechanical obstruction (partial bladder outlet obstruction [pBOO]) and chronic cystitis. [2]
