As the popularity of soft-tissue fillers increases, strategies to prevent complications are increasingly sought. Blindness ranks among the most serious and rare of these complications; the cause remains unknown, but is predominantly believed to result from inadvertent intraarterial injection of filler. Targeted digital pressure to occlude high-risk periorbital arteries and prevent inadvertent intraarterial injection is therefore a simple technique that adds a significant benefit at no additional cost or risk to the patient.
