Skin of color (SOC) dermatology is an evolving global subspecialty of dermatology that involves the diagnosis and treatment of cutaneous disorders occurring in a diverse group of people composed of individuals with darker skin types (Fitzpatrick skin Types 4–6) and of various cultures. First, I must give credit where credit is due, and that is to the late Drs. John Kenney and Harold Pierce who were both pioneers in this field and have set the groundwork for all dermatologists and dermatologic surgeons who care for SOC patients.
