Incidental disease can be discovered during intraoperative examination of Mohs micrographic surgery frozen sections for nonmelanoma skin cancers. Typical incidental findings include intradermal nevi or follicular hamartomas, which can be easily distinguished from the malignant tumor that is being excised. In addition, multiple histologic patterns can exist within a single tumor or a collision tumor. Occasionally, atypical histologic features can lead to challenges in both diagnosis and management.
