Ketamine is an intravenous hypnotic that is widely used in anaesthesia for its bronchodilating and antihyperalgesic properties and lack of haemodynamic depression. Some adverse effects have been described such as confusion and hallucinations, but anaphylaxis is extremely rare. We report a patient who presented with anaphylactic shock due to a ketamine infusion during elective surgery. The patient gave written permission to publish this case.
