This survey highlights a significant discrepancy between anaesthetist-preferred eFONA technique in a CICO situation, the device availability and training provided. Although rare, a significant proportion of anaesthetists have experienced CICO scenario, and it is important that all anaesthetists feel adequately prepared and confident in managing them. The choice of scalpel–bougie or cannula cricothyroidotomy is rarely the significant issue in determining patient outcome. Ultimately, more important than the eFONA technique is the need for uniformity and regularity of training and device availability.
