was used for hydrolocation. Also, it was possible to delineate the brachial plexus sheath with the ultrasound system used. We acknowledge that there may be no added benefit of using a mixture of long-acting local anaesthetic with lidocaine since it only reduces onset time. We also acknowledge that more lung function assessments such as forced vital capacity or forced expiratory volume in 1 s would ensure a more comprehensive evaluation of the pulmonary function of the patients. However, the primary objective of our study was to compare the prevalence of ipsilateral hemidiaphragmatic paresis between the supraclavicular and costoclavicular brachial plexus block techniques. Therefore, we believe that the choice of the injection technique or the local anaesthetic used did not affect the results of our randomised trial.
