Professor Priebe also commented that the data for surgeons’ satisfaction with the intra-operative surgical conditions and the postoperative pain score did not allow for valid conclusions. We agree. The primary outcome in our study was the volume of intra-operative surgical bleeding and the secondary outcome was the total volume of postoperative bleeding by 24 h. Therefore, we did not perform a power calculation for the surgeon’s satisfaction score or use a numeric rating scale for postoperative pain. Our study aimed to evaluate the effects and superiority of deep neuromuscular blockade on surgical bleeding. As mentioned previously, those variables were used as results of the primary and secondary outcomes in our study. However, the surgical team were completely blinded to the patient assignments. Therefore, the data for the surgeons’ satisfaction, intra-operative surgical conditions and the postoperative pain score might be meaningful.
