guidelines and risk calculators that underestimate risks D uring 25 years of publication, Menopause has featured myriad research reports, reviews, personal perspectives, and expert editorials on the topic of women and heart disease, especially, but not exclusively, related to menopause and hormone therapy (HT). Members of the Menopause Editorial Board (both past and present) have conducted landmark epidemiological studies, directed pivotal clinical trials, and contributed pioneering research in this field. Holding Volume 1, Issue 1, from the Spring of 1994, in my hands, a smile comes to my face as I review the roster of that inaugural Editorial Board. Reflecting the inclusive, multidisciplinary environment fostered by Wulf Utian, undisputed leaders in women’s heart health included Trudy Bush, Deborah Grady, Rogerio Lobo, Meir J. Stampfer, and Jay Sullivan. Perusing another issue from 5 years later, 1999, the list had grown appreciably and incorporated Elizabeth Barrett-Connor, Thomas B. Clarkson, Lila E. Nachtigall, Phillip M. Sarrel, and Robert A. Wild. By 2005, Francine Grodstein, JoAnn E. Manson, and Karen Matthews had joined the Editorial Board. Now, leaping ahead a dozen years, reviewing the January, 2018, issue, Howard N. Hodis, Peter F. Schnatz, Chrisandra Shufelt, and Rebecca C. Thurston have since been incorporated. I offer congratulations to the wise and prescient Editors through these 25 years, whom I am fortunate to also count as friends—Isaac Schiff, Wulf H. Utian, Margery L. Gass, and JoAnn V. Pinkerton—and sincere gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to this 25th Anniversary commemoration.
