Application of Modified Silicone Oil Retention Sutures in Traumatic Aphakic Eyes With Iris Loss Serving as an intraocular tamponade, silicone oil has been widely used in ophthalmology; however, we believe that greater attention should be given to the prevention and treatment of silicone oil–related complications. For patients with traumatic aphakia and aniridia, because of the lack of a natural barrier of the iridolenticular diaphragm, when the posterior eye segment needs tamponade with silicone oil, it is extremely important to prevent the silicone oil from entering the anterior chamber, which can otherwise damage the corneal endothelium, or it might even provoke corneal endothelial decompensation. In this study, our methods were reported as follows:

Keywords: modified silicone; application modified; silicone oil; oil; oil retention; retention sutures
