blood sampling in reasonable intervals based on a priori examination of individual risk for adverse effects (eg, past adverse reaction to antipsychotics). In outpatient settings, where routine blood sampling might be more difficult, we suggest to closely monitor clinical symptoms, such as myalgia, and conduct blood sampling in reasonable intervals or when there is clinical evidence (eg, myalgia) that point towards adverse effects. In addition, because of potential long-term adverse effects of quetiapine, the medical indication of quetiapine should be examined carefully, especially when treating agitation and symptoms where pharmaceutical alternatives are available. If the patient experienced a quetiapine-associated CK increase, further administration of this medication in the future should be evaluated carefully.
