Blood pressure variability (BPV) is increased in chronic respiratory disease (CRD) patients [1,2]. Hypoxia may underlie CRD and excessive BPV [2]. CRD patients show significant day-long oxygen desaturation through normal activities of daily living [3]. In such patients, intermittent daytime hypoxia may contribute toward sudden blood pressure (BP) elevation (as nocturnal hypoxia does in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome patients) and may trigger cardiovascular events. Our pneumoconiosis patient experienced lacunar stroke recurrences.
