It was with great honour that I was recently appointed Deputy Editor of this journal along with Mikkel Brabrand from Denmark. As our Editor-in-Chief would say with respect to review work, this position is both a privilege and a responsibility [1]. Several indicators show that the journal continues to improve its quality and impact in the field of emergency medicine, and therefore the number of submissions received continues to increase [2,3]. In this context, editors and reviewers must be more attentive than ever to the quality and ethics of the submissions they are evaluating.
