Introduction Children presenting to the emergency department (ED) with injuries experience pain [1]. Pain score documentation was previously shown to be incomplete [2,3] with pain management that was often inconsistent and inadequate [4]. When compared to adults, studies show that children with similar fractures are treated with less analgesia [3]. Even when prescribed, analgesia was often inadequate [5]. Nevertheless, pain management of children with fractured extremities was similar between pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) and general emergency medicine (GEM) physicians [6].
