NODmice did not have insulitis inmost islets, but neither immune nor endocrine cells were positive for the stabilins by immunostaining. Weak occasional staining was seen in islet endothelial cells (not shown). In human pancreas, islet microvascular endothelial cells were strongly positive for both stabilins, and there were also some stabilin-expressing cells scattered in the exocrine parenchyma (Fig. 1C, D).
