4 cases of pancreatitis (1.98%). In these cases, the admission length of stay was 4, 7, 14, and 15 days. This subgroup of patients with pancreatitis had a significantly longer inpatient stay than that noted by Wadhwa et al. Therefore, perhaps further study is required in understanding the length of stay in hospital and therefore cost by subdividing pancreatitis by etiology. In conclusion, DBE is an iatrogenic cause of acute pancreatitis. It is of interest that post-DBE pancreatitis patients had a significantly longer admission than average and that although there is an overall improving trend on length of admission, it may be that this shorter stay is only seen in specific causes of pancreatitis.
