Limitations inherent to the study design and database resulted in limiting the analysis to only part of the care process items mandated by the checklist. Although additional research is still required to fully appreciate the implications of the framework in a complex integrated hospital setting, the study highlights the importance of maintaining high-quality implementation when executing the SSC intervention to achieve improved care processes and eventual superior patient outcomes.
