Recognition of leadership and scholastic aptitude will pave the way for greater representation of women in surgery. Through these efforts, the impetus inspired by the achievements of pioneering women surgeons in the 20th century stands to make continual advancement in the empowerment and integration of women surgeons in the workforce.
