In microwave tomography (MWT), the incident field is often collected only on the measurement domain, external to the imaging domain. This is a challenge for MWT inversion algorithms as they require the knowledge of the incident field in the imaging domain. Herein, we propose the use of the source reconstruction method to calculate the incident field in the imaging domain from the collected incident field data on the measurement domain. This calculated incident field will then be used by an inversion algorithm to invert the MWT scattering data, without the need for performing any calibration methods, to yield the quantitative dielectric profile of the object being imaged. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated with synthetic and experimental testing.
